Clay learned the hard way that poking a stick into a small hole with a few wasps buzzing around is not a good idea. Clay and Ruby were playing a few feet from where Heather and I were sitting on a bench, and suddenly we heard Clay crying. We ran over and dozens of wasps were crawling on him and flying around him. Ashamedly, I panicked and froze, and Heather was the one to brave the wasps and snatch him up. Clay was sobbing, and Heather and I carried him to the sidewalk 30 feet away, swatting wasps as we ran. We then stripped off all his clothes, and saw 20+ wasp stings all over his body. Poor buddy! Heather also was stung twice on the head. We took Clay home and gave him a baking soda bath and some tylenol. He sobbed for almost two hours, and only settled down after I ran to the store for more tylenol, and gave him a hefty dose. The baby tylenol we had lying around our house wasn't cutting it. I also stocked up on benadryl and calamine lotion. After Clay calmed down, he eagerly re-lived the experience in great detail, and wanted to call his two Nanas to tell them how brave he was. We are so thankful he is okay! The photo shows how red and swollen his ear got from one of the wasp stings. He had six stings on his inner thigh that were especially sore. Thank you, Aunt Heather, for rescuing Clay!
