Summer days

Clay and I had a wonderful week together - one of those weeks where parenting is pure joy. I think because I worked all last week, so I more appreciated the last 5 days Clay and I spent together. And I know the beautiful summer weather is fleeting. We did the usual playground, beach, pool thing. We reconnected with our old friends, the Sorrells, and Kathryn and I were on a roll with play dates three days in a row. We loved our pool party with Jake and Emma this afternoon too. Clay and his little buddies are so cute together - it still cracks me up when two year-olds have conversations.

Another new thing the past couple days is that Clay has opted to not read books before nap and bedtime, and instead asks us to tell him stories. We lay on the bed together and tell stories about Clay Squirrel, Clay Eagle, and Clay Bear - and they are usually having some adventure based on things we have done together in the past, with much embellishment. You can just see the wheels of his imaginative brain turning - he has totally taken off in the realm of imaginative play lately. Its adorable. Another thing that Clay is hooked on is climbing - any and everything. We found him on top of the neighbor's lattice fence tonight - 7 feet off the ground. He is good at knowing his limits, so for the most part I let him climb everything, and pray for his safety.
